Thanks to my web guy, Kevin and Erik at Cartkeeper for working through this as quickly as possible.

Now...go shop! :)

Trick or Treat Hand

trickortreathand

Remember this recipe for my Valentine’s Day project? Well, turns out it make a great recipe for Halloween too!

Today’s project uses that recipe and a plastic glove to make a scary Halloween project using the new Chicken Girl Design Happy Halloween set. I filled the glove with the popcorn (after it was cooled) and then closed off the glove with a piece of silver ribbon.

The images are stamped in Palette Noir and colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I used my Long Rectangle Nesties to make the tag part and stuck the fingers of the glove to it so it is “holding it” using i {stick} papers.

Cute and creepy all in one, right?

I Wanna Gobble You Up!

gobble

Isn’t this monster adorable?? I think so! And, I love how the gobble greeting has little bites taken out of some of the letters. How cute is that? (Answer: very.)

I made a little treat holder using Silly Monsters (colored with Prismacolor pencils and then glazed with Matte Accents) and my Large Square Nesties. The DP is the new Eerie paper from Basic Grey. It’s a great collection for Halloween and fall projects. I love the colors.

Here’s a side view and how I did it. Cut two pieces of cardstock using large square Nesties. Layer your focal piece (already stamped and colored) on your DP and then wrap with a piece of two-toned orange satin ribbon.

gobbleside

Next, layer that whole piece on one of your Nestie pieces. Use i {stick} papers to adhere a small prepackaged bag of candy corn (or whatever you want!) to the back piece. Then use more i {stick} papers to adhere the top to the bag and you’re done!

Pretty cute and simple! Thanks for stopping in!

Batty For You Candy Card

battyforyoucandy

Hello!  Happy Monday!  We had a wonderful time at the Garlic Festival with perfect weather, good friends and, of course, lots of garlicky goodness!

Today’s card uses my new favorite product, Shake It pouches.  They are self adhesive so I stuck two of large circles together to make a little bubble and filled it with candy corn.  Then I used my Large Circle Nesties to cut out the perfect sized hole and then Small Scalloped Nesties to make the little ring from The Spider’s Web paper to accent it.  Then, I used these cutie felt bats (also self-adhesive) and placed them over the Shake It pouch.  The greeting is from the Happy Halloween set and stamped in Palette Noir.

Cute eh?  And, surprisingly easy!

Wanna see the haul?  Of course, there is lots of garlic but there is also:   maple peanut butter, fresh corn, jelly, a t-shirt, 7th generation herbalist made soap, dip mixes, soup mix, apple cider, garlic caramel.  Not seen here is the 32 pound pumpkin that we picked right off the vine.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I realized the other day that I have posted a post every single day this month so far.  Phew!  What a blogging whirlwind that has been!  See you tomorrow!

Happy Harvest: Sunflower thanks

thankssunflowers

I know I’ve already said this, but really, I mean it…I {heart} Tracy’s Happy Harvest set and I’ve been loving using it for thank you cards. The greeting is stamped in Palette Landscape and the sunflowers are stamped in Palette Cognac. I colored the sunflowers with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I dabbed some Stardust Stickles over the centers of the ones I popped up on dimensionals.

Then I outlined the shape of my card with my Chocolate Spica to add just a little more sparkle. I wasn’t sure if I liked all the white open space in the middle but I think I like the clean look of it. Do you?

Thanks for stopping by!

WCS99 – Happy Holidays

wsc99

I had some time to play along with Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge.  Yay!  You can’t see it from the picture but this is a gate card and opens up from the piece of designer paper.

I used this cutie little reindeer from the Jolly Christmas set, stamped in Palette Burnt Umber and colored with OMS and Prismacolor pencils.  He’s got a small gem for his nose.  I created the circle with my Nesties.

Then I took a small piece from MME Colorful Christmas and used my long rectangle Nesties to create the scalloped edge.  I used my A2 Snowflake embossing folder to emboss my card flaps and then tied a piece of this awesome polka dot ribbon around the bottom flap.  Lastly I used my Ribbon Tags Trio to make a tag (I cut off the right side) and attached it with a small scrap of gold metallic string.  The greeting is stamped with Palette Claret.

Tada!  That’s it!  Thanks for stopping by today!  We’re off to the Garlic Festival!

Five Minute Friday: You’re a Hoot

krafthoot

Today’s card is super simple with a stamp from Unity’s Mix Up of Cuteness which I paired with the greeting from Into the Forest. I stamped the owl and greeting in Palette Burnt Umber and colored the owl with my Prismacolor pencils. I popped up the wings for some dimension and colored them with my clear Spica for some sparkle. He’s sitting on a little piece of brown leafy vine ribbon. The bubble was hand-drawn with my sand Spica pen. VERY SIMPLE!

Scroll down for some NSR info about my weekend plans and my pond.

******

Picture 002 Still here? Thanks! A few people have asked how our pond is fairing. We’ve probably got another 6 or so weeks before the fish go into hibernation. The water temperature needs to drop down to 50 degrees before we stop feeding them. Our biggest frog has been a huge source of entertainment for us this summer. We saw him carrying around a small bird earlier in the season and then just last week we caught him with another one! (Click the picture for a close up, if you want to see it.) Who knew that green frogs ate birds?!! I sure didn’t (although some Google research says it is pretty common) and it definitely lowers his cuteness factor with a poor little sparrow sticking out of his mouth. Nature amazes me (and grosses me out sometimes!)

Thanks for stopping by! We're heading to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, an annual tradition for us. We go to the Festival, then go to a local orchard for some yummy apple picking and then head to the original Rocco's Restaurant in New City, NY. They have the most amazing garlic knots. It's all about the knots. I've been going to Rocco's since I was in high school, although now that I live much farther away I usually only get to go when we make the trek to the HVGF. Mmm...I'm hungry just thinking about it.

Anyway, the Garlic Festival is where I get my cloves for my own garlic harvest. I'll post a picture of my haul when I get back. It's always HUGE! It's always a long and exhausting day but I look forward to it every year. Have a great weekend!

Happy Fall Tiny Trinity tree

falltrinitytree

Have you been enjoying Kendra’s Growing in Unity week?  I’ve got another post for you today and I’ll be back tomorrow with a Unity Five Minute Friday card for you.

Today’s card uses one of the trees from Tiny Trinity and the greeting is from Happy Harvest (exclusively from IHP’s own Tracy Schultz!)  I stamped the tree and the greeting in Palette Cognac and Burnt Umber, respectively.  I colored the tree with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS and then went over them with my Clear Spica pen.  I used my Rectangle Nesties, some olive leafy vine ribbon and this Majestic tree designer paper from the new A Walk In The Park line from Upsy Daisy.  Isn’t it perfect?

This was almost a Five Minute Friday card but not quite.  That’s for tomorrow so be sure to pop back in for it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Harvest: Give Thanks

givethanks

Hello!  I’m back today with another sample from Happy Harvest, exclusively available at IHP!  For today’s card I used SC246

I took one of the pumpkin toppers and I slightly bent it on my block so that it curved along the large circle Nestie.  I love bending my clear stamps to make them do different things.  This one didn’t take very much manipulation.  I stamped it twice (in Palette Cognac - my new favorite color!) and then placed the hurricane lamp in the middle.  Then, in Palette Burnt Umber I stamped the Give Thanks over top.

I colored it with my Prisma pencils and glazed it with some Matte Accents.  I went over the candle with my Spica Clear pen for some shimmer.  The strip of designer paper is from the new Eerie collection from Basic Grey.  I love this print!  I also used my new A2 Leaves embossing folder from Quickutz for the two cardstock pieces and then finished it off with a piece of ivory satin ribbon.

I *think* these may be my Thanksgiving cards for this year!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Trick or Treat pouch

tricktreatersfront

Hello! I’m back today with another sample from the super cute Happy Halloween set – one of the two new sets from Chickengirl Designs, available only at i {heart} papers! Today’s project is a little treat pouch. Here it is tricktreatersopensidefrom the side so you can see the little Mallow Pumpkins inside. Yum!

I thought the idea of having a little door to open for the trick or treaters would be so cute so I grabbed one of my Piggy Tales Barndoors and covered it with some paper from the Boo To You collection pack. I layered it on the flip side. My little tricksters are stamped in Palette Noir and colored with my Prismacolor pencils. I stamped some bats inside the “door” and my greeting, also in Palette Noir. The little handle to the door is just a loop of 1-1/2” celery silk ribbon. I used our very own i {stick} papers redline tape to keep my pouch together. I know it is strong enough that it isn’t coming apart by accident.

Aren’t these little guys just so adorable? I’d give them all my candy if they showed up at my house!

Thanks for stopping by today! See you soon! I’ll be back tomorrow for Five Minute Friday!

Growing in Unity: Kendra’s week!

thinksnow

Kendra is hosting Growing in Unity this week and I wanted to play along.  I used some new goodies on this card and I love how it turned out.  I stamped my Jolly Little Winter greeting, penguin and snow mounds in Palette Noir.  I cut out the penguin and popped him up.  Then the magic happened.  I used my new Large Circle Shake It Pouch to create my shaker window.  I LOVE THESE!  They make making shaker cards SO easy.  Why you ask?  Well, first they are sized to work perfectly with Nestabilities.  I love when products are developed to work with existing products.  Second, they are self adhesive.  Yay! That means no more messing with double sided tape while trying not to mess up the tape with the snow or glitter or beads or whatever else you have in there.  They’re great!  You get 10 per package and are a must have if you like to make shaker cards.

thinksnowclose OK, back to the card.  I filled my shaker pouch with Cotton Ball White Fun Flock for snow.  I used my new Snowflake A2 embossing folder for the background and layered my Scalloped Nesties and Circle Nesties to get that scalloped border from my Snowball Fun paper, which I laid over the shaker pouch after I adhered it to my card front.  I love these Quickutz folders because they are a full A2 size, unlike my old Cuttlebug folders.

Finally I outlined the mounds, fence and snowlines with Stardust Stickles for some more sparkle.

Isn’t it cute??  And really, this was the easiest shaker card I’ve ever made.  And, since the pouch is only about 1/8” high it can still easily be mailed.  Bonus!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to check Kendra’s blog all week for Unity posts!  I’ll be back later in the week with another Unity card.  I’ll have some new Chicken Girl and The Petal Press cards in between for you!

Have a Boo-tiful Day!

bootifulday

Hello!  I’m here today with another sample from the new Chicken Girl Design set, Silly Monsters, available exclusively at IHP!

I stamped the black base with the ghost in Palette New Canvas.  Then I used a scrap from my MME The Spider’s Web collection pack and torn it, crumbled it and generally just beat it up.  Then I stamped the ghost in Palette Noir on a piece of vellum, die cut with my new Nestabilities Labels 8 die.  On the backside of the vellum I used my Frosted Lace Stickles to color in the ghost and make it a little shimmery but I didn’t want to lose the face and the depth of the black.

Next I snipped apart a piece of white lace to tatter it a bit (I was going to a cobweb kinda feel…not sure if I pulled it off!) and just wrapped the lace around the beat up piece of designer paper.

I tattered another scrap from the same collection pack, stamped the greeting and attached it with a Bittersweet glazed brad.

So, what do you think?  In person there is a lot of texture and depth to this card but I don’t think my picture captured it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Batty for You Monster

battyforyoumonster

Here’s another sample from Silly Monsters and Happy Halloween, now available for purchase! Have you gotten yours yet?

I used my rectangle Nesties and some new Eerie paper from Basic Grey. See the bats?? I love this paper! I stamped the monster in Palette Violette and then lightly colored using my Prismacolor pencils. I gemmed his eyes with little purple gems. I stamped the greeting in Palette Orangerie and finished it off with a piece of black faux suede.

Have you been following all the great samples from the Chickengirls and the Petal Press gals? Be sure to check the SCS galleries for all the great projects! IHPCGD and IHPTPP.

Five Minute Friday: Happy Harvest Thanks

thanksgrapes

I love Tracy’s new Happy Harvest set.  It is so easy to use and so versatile.  For today’s card I made a one layer card using the new A2 Frame Quickutz embossing folder.  I love that this folder has that center oval clear for stamping.  Those Quickutz folks are so smart!  I used the individual grape bunch (that and the greeting are stamped in Palette Violette) to dangle it off the various swirls that are embossed and then colored them with Prismacolor pencils.  I dabbed some Stardust Stickles over them so I didn’t need to blend them.  The pumpkin is stamped in Palette Cognac and colored.  That’s it!

Aren’t one layer cards wonderful?  I didn’t know I had the ability to make a card not using my Nesties!  Haha!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Happy Harvest: Fall candle

happyfallcandle

Are you loving Tracy’s first set, Happy Harvest?  I know I am!  And, it’s giving me a chance to work on my coloring skills a bit.  This little table decoration would be great as a Thanksgiving place setting gift or just a little neighbor gift (well, not for MY neighbors but maybe for yours!).  I used my oval Nesties and sponged the edge of the ivory cs with some Palette Moulin Rouge.  This is also the ink I used to stamp the greeting.

I stamped the pumpkin with Palette Cognac, which is a great color if Burnt Umber is just a little too dark.  I’ve been using Cognac more and more.  I colored it with my Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and cut it out so I could pop it up.  The flame has a little touch of Orange Stickles.  I wrapped the candle with a piece of 3/8” ivory satin and held it in place with a few pieces of i {stick} papers.

I think it’s pretty elegant.  I’m debating whether to keep it or give it away!  Haha!

Thanks for stopping in today!

DT Product Challenge – Large Scale prints

dtchall091509

Have you been enjoying the sneak peeks from this month’s three new sets?

Today I take a break from sneaking for this month’s DT Challenge. This month it was a product focus and each person was given one sheet of this beautiful Webster’s Pages Delish paper and some of the fuchsia faux suede ribbon that matches it perfectly. The challenge was to use the large scale side of the paper. I think as cardmakers sometimes we’re scared off by large scale prints and don’t use them very often but some then we miss out on some of the most gorgeous papers out there!

dtchall091509close My card is a square 5-1/2” card. I did some persnickety cutting so that I could pop up those two little flowers. I was lucky that those flowers show up on the paper elsewhere! Then I coated them with Frosted Lace Stickles. I went over the pink flourished and parts of the large pink flower with Fruit Punch Stickles and the brown flourish with Cinnamon Stickles to give it all a little shimmer.

I made my tag from the same paper using my new Nestabilities Labels 8 and trimmed the first layer down so that I could mat it (using the small print brown backside of the paper). I stamped my greeting from Expressions (on sale now!) in Palette Claret and popped up everything up for some added dimension.

It’s a little more intricate than I usually make but I think it came out alright. :)

Please check the rest of the DT’s posts today to see what they came up with using these two products!

Happy Harvest Give Thanks peek

tracythanks

Hello!  I’ve got another peek at the new Happy Harvest set from The Petal Press.  It’s available for sale starting Sept. 16.  It’s almost here!!

It is a layering set, so the pumpkin and the grapes are two different stamps so you can ink them up separately.  There are several other pumpkin toppers and other pieces in this set too!  You’re going to love it when you see how versatile it is and easy to use.   And, all the words are different stamps as well so you can mix and match your sayings in the set.  So cool!

I made this matchbook card and used my oval Nesties for my main focal image.  I stamped everything in Palette Noir and colored with my Prismacolor pencils.  I used a small piece of brown satin ribbon to keep the matchbook part closed and pierced the scallops of the oval.  Very simple and elegant IMO!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’ll be back tomorrow with an IHP DT Challenge.  Be sure to check out the rest of The Petal Press girls to see their sneak peeks.

Monstrously Old Sneak Peek

monsterouslyoldpink

EEKKK! I LOVE this new set from Chicken Girl Designs. It is called Silly Monsters and this is one of the cute little guys in the set. I stamped him in Palette Noir, colored him/her with Prismacolor pencils and then glazed him/her with Matte Accents. Matte Accents is perfect when you want dimension but no shimmer or gloss. Of course I used my trusty rectangle Nesties. :) The greeting is stamped in Palette L’Amour Red.

The paper is the same Make A Wish glitter birthday paper I used last week on my Rooco card, just a different strip of it. I love how versatile it is and of course I love the glitter! The finishing touch was some little bling on the sides to balance everything out.

Coincidentally, this card is also the sketch for SC244! How convenient for me! Tee hee!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Harvest Sneak Peek #2

I’m back today with another peek at Happy Harvest, releasing on Sept. 16 from The Petal Press – available only at i {heart} papers (along with two new sets from Chickengirl Designs!)

It is a layering set, meaning that the wheat and the hurricane lamp are two different stamps so you can ink them up separately. There are other pieces in this set too, which you will see over the next week or so. And, the words are different stamps as well so you can mix and match your sayings in the set.

I stamped everything in Palette Noir and then colored with my Spica glitter pens (sand, peach) and my Prismacolor pencils. I used my square Nesties and a piece of brown satin to finish off this 4-1/4” square card.

I love the simplicity of these images. They remind me of some of the beautiful Thanksgiving centerpieces my gram used to make.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be back again tomorrow! Check in with the other Petal Press DT gals to see the samples they’ve got!

Five Minute Friday Ghost

ghost

Hello!  Happy Friday on this somber day of remembrance.    I’ve got quite a few of my own memories from 8 years ago, being a military wife (at the time), living in NYC.

Today’s card is very simple.  I hand drew a ghost shape and cut out the card and a sheet of vellum over top.  I hand drew the face with my black multiliner pen.  I punched two holes in the hands and threaded a piece of white metallic string to hold the tag greeting in place.  The saying is from the upcoming Happy Halloween set, available from IHP on Sept. 16.

So, very simple but cute – right?  Be sure to check out the other DT girls to see what they have!  I’ll be back again tomorrow!

Witching You 2-4-6-8 box

2468witchingbox

How cute is this little favor box?  I’ve been on a kick of little boxes since I made 30 christening favors for a customer last week.  These are perfect little Halloween treats and the new Happy Halloween set couldn’t be any more perfect.  I used the Deckle Petite Scallop Borderabilities to cut the edge along the top of the box before assembling it.  I made a belly band from one of the prints from The Spider’s Web collection pack and then stamped the cute little bunny witch and greeting from the new set (available Sept 16!) in Palette Noir.  She’s colored with my Prismacolor pencils and I put black Stickles on the hat and yellow Stickles on the broom for a little extra pop.

The handle is a piece of lime glimmer ribbon.  I love that it is sturdy enough to stand up like that!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my sneak peek.  Be sure to check the rest of the DT who will be showing peeks throughout the week leading up to the release on the 16th.

Happy Harvest Sneak Peek

tracyfall

Today I’m so excited to show you the first sneak peek of Happy Harvest, the very first set from The Petal Press.  This set will be available on Sept 16 for purchase.  It is a layering set, meaning that the pumpkin and sunflowers are two different stamps.  There are other toppers which you will see over the next week or so.  And, aren’t those fonts in the greeting beautiful??  I adore them.  They are different stamps as well so you can mix and match your sayings in the set.

I stamped everything in Palette Noir and colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils.  Then I went over it with some Candle Light Shimmerz.  The tags are my trusty Ribbon Tags Trio and circle Nesties.  I used two small pieces of the lavender silk to add a little contrast.   I love the sunflowers against the purple!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to check in every day between now and the release on the 16th for sneak peeks of all three sets that are being released this month!  And, don’t forget to check out the rest of The Petal Press DT to see what samples they’ve got lined up!

You Make My Life Brighter

lifebright

Hello!  I hope you had a great long weekend!  I know I sure did!

Today’s card is my first one using the Shine On! set from Unity.  I stamped the lamp and greeting in Palette Landscape which paired quite well with the sage faux suede ribbon.  I used my new Labels 8 Nesties to cut the ivory piece, the greeting tag and the designer paper.  This card does not do the DP justice.  It is from the new Upsy Daisy line A Walk in the Park and I am loving it.  It’s got some really great tree and nature patterns and is pretty versatile and could even work with masculine cards.  (Their Man About Town collection is really masculine.)  But anyway, I used the backside of this paper and like the simplicity of the pattern.  It reminds of old wallpaper.

I used my craft knife to make a slit under the post of the lamp and slid my ribbon under there.  I also added some small gems to the lampshade for some sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with some news for you so be sure to stop by!

Five Minute Friday: Sucker!

sucker

Happy Friday!  It’s hard to believe that this is the end of summer!  Boy, that just flew by!  We’ll be doing some hiking and visiting with friends in upstate NY (well, upstate to me…not upstate to people who live UPSTATE near Canada, like Tracy!) this weekend.  I’m hoping the weather cooperates with us.

For today’s card I cracked out my new Rock Candy Distress Stickles (you know, the ones I was gushing about the other day) and knew it would be perfect with the lollipop image from Mix Up of Cuteness.  Seriously, this set is perfectly named.   The sugary coating on the lollipop is perfect.

I stamped it in Palette Noir and then colored it with my Prismacolor pencils to give it that classic swirly sucker look.  I layered it on top of a scalloped scrap of Lime Rickey paper.  Then I laid down three pieces of glimmer ribbon – two yellow and one lime.

I finished it off with my Oval Nesties and stamped the greeting from Hugs from a Bug in Palette Chartreuse.  I love how perfect the saying was with this image.

Thanks for popping by today.  Be sure to come by next week for some store news!  Have a great weekend!

Rooco Birthday Cupcake

roococupcake

Blogger friends, meet Rooco.  That’s ROOO-CO, not Rocco, as you might expect.  I met him (and fell in love with him) at CHA.  He’s the newest cutey from Stampendous, joining their other cuties such as Chagito, Chicks and Fluffles.  This is Rooco Reach and he is intended to hold things above his head, including this pumpkin for Halloween.

For today’s card I paired him with a cupcake from the Unity set, Mix Up of Cuteness.  It was the perfect size and for this big birthday wish, he needed a good cupcake.

The strip of paper along the bottom is from the new, awesome glittery paper Make A Wish.  It’s already got the glitter and glaze on the paper so you get the effect without the mess!  And this paper is really versatile because you can cut it apart and get lots of cards from one sheet.  It’s double-sided too, just in case you don’t want to use the glittery side.  (WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?!!)

I colored Rooco and the cupcake with my Prismacolor pencils and then applied some new Rock Candy Distress Stickles.  OH MY GOSH…I LOVE THESE.  They are perfect for cakes, candies, etc…anything that you want to look like it has a sugar coating on.  It’s got a little shimmer from the Stickles but since they’re part of the Distress line the main effect is that it makes it look like you’ve applied granulated sugar to your card (except without any of the mess or stickiness!)  AMAZING.  You’ll see more of these from me.

I used my Rectangle Nesties and some yellow shimmer ribbon to finish off this non-standard tent card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Welcome back!

Today I’m excited to welcome back inaugural DT member Kendra to the team.  She took a short break due to some other commitments but she’s back now and I couldn’t be more thrilled!  Be sure to stop by her blog and see the project she has and for your chance to win some blog candy.

And, I know I sound like a broken record but have you checked the NEW items in the store?  I’ve been adding new items every day like new Best Creation glitter papers (yummy!), new Spellbinders, new Just Rite, new embossing folders (just like Cuttlebug ones but BETTER!) and lots more.  Just check out the NEW section.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a crafty post for you!  Thanks for stopping by!  Now…go say hi to Kendra!
