12 Days of Craftmas

Welcome to Day 10 of the 12 Days of Craftmas!  If you are stumbling upon this, be sure to start back at the beginning for your chance to win lots of goodies!

Day 10: YOU'RE HERE!

In case this is your first time here, I am a huge animal rescue advocate.   A few months ago I suggested an idea to Kim Hughes (owner/designer of Paper Smooches Stamps) to create a stamps and dies to support our rescued furry friends. We worked together to create some really fun dog rescue products! A portion of the sales will be donated to Home for Good Dog Rescue

My project began by baking some bacon-cheddar dog cookies.

Recipe:
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup boiling water
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup Bacos or well drained, chopped bacon
1 egg, beaten
2-3 cups whole wheat flour (I add the extra cup to get it to a consistency that I can work with)

It's a sticky dough. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in additional flour as necessary until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut with cookie cutter and place 1 inch apart onto a Silpat (or greased sheet). Take a fork and poke holes in each cookie to prevent it bubbling up.

Bake 35 to 45 minutes at 350*, until golden brown and hard. Cool before serving. Store in a loosely covered container.

I used the two new rescue themed sets, Paws For A Cause and Lucky Dog as my main set, stamping the dogs iLuxe Memento ink (my new fav ink for full coverage like on the solid stamps).  For the goodie bag I used red pom pom trim around the window of the bag (adhered with IHP's very own redline tape, i {stick} papers), stamped For You from the PS set Christmas Sampler on the paw pad of the large paw die from Dog Icons die set,  added a Santa hat to the dog from the Merry Motif set, colored with Copics and finished off with some Stickles.  I popped up the tag on dimensionals and wrapped the top of the bag with some red ruffle ribbon to conceal the bag closure.

For the gift card I used the dogs again, stamped in Luxe ink and the tree from Winter Groves paper pieced using Lawn Fawn's Into The Woods paper and added the sentiment from Bitty Bungalows.

My gift for today is a $15 gift certificate to i {heart} papers.  Just leave me a comment telling me the name of your dog/cat/fish, etc., if it is a rescue and what you're getting it for Christmas!  If you don't have any pets, then just tell me your favorite holiday cookie!  A winner will be selected and posted here on Monday Dec. 23 so be sure to check back to see if you've won!

And, don't forget to be sure you check in on our Facebook page, too!  We share news, updates, inspiration, and the occasional giveaway!

I have Coco, a Siamese cat. She is a rescue, and I figure she's had about 5 different homes. She's here to stay and has made herself very much at home since April! She is a gorgeous seal-point, looks to be purebred, but who knows?
For Christmas, she will get some special treats and a new toy.

Wwww I use to make these for my Libby... She passed away a few months ago and still deeply miss her. We rescued her from a pound and she was the best dog ever! We do have two cats medi and sassy also both from the pound. They will be getting a cat house with a scratch pad! Hehehe! Thanks!

Oh how cute!!! I never thought to make treats for dogs. I'm afraid I'll mess up the recipe...hehe.

I have a malti-poo named Daizy. She's the sweetest ever and very playful. Whenever she meets someone new she jumps on them, barks a little to say hi, and then looks for something in the area to bring to them to play catch... she's so silly!

Merry Christmas!

Cute projects and thanks for the recipe. My cats are named Sabre and Monty. Sabre was a stray that we took in as a kitten and Monty's owner couldn't keep him anymore so we gave him a home.
They will be getting cat treats for Christmas.

I have a Maine Coon mix that I picked out when she was one week at the local animal shelter. I adopted her at 5 weeks. Her full name is Catawhatapultalina, but for short we call her Catapult! She is getting some new toys, a few bags of treats, and all the boxes and wrapping paper to play in!

We have 20 cats and they are all rescues: Bonzi, Junior, Aliyah, Chaienne, Suzie, Spunky Jr, Scooter, Ivan, Charlotte, Mestopholeez, Jetta, Andale, Geneva, Marshmallow, Scamper, Othello, Ophelia, Whiskers, Alexander, and Tiger Lily....plus a tom who comes here to eat that we call Big Bad Black. :) Four of my kitties live inside most of the time.

I know 20 cats sounds excessive....it is!! lol... My husband is a veterinarian and we love cats. We live in rural Idaho and have lots of room for them. Cats seem to find us. We don't go searching for them. We spay and neuter them (still need to catch Big Bad Black!) and keep them dewormed and vaccinated. And....we do not have a mouse problem.

We also have a rooster and 3 hens that were rescues, too, and a dog named Growler that was born to us.

I only got Christmas gifts for the inside cats: catnip mice and crinkly fish. Awwwwww....they will love them.

Bear was not a rescue. I got her from a friend who had puppies. I wasn't going to take her but she was born on the anniversary of my husband's death. I felt like that might be a sign that I needed companionship - which Bear has given me. She has a delicate stomach so I've bought her some MilkBones and a toy. It can't be a cloth toy or she'll tear it up. She loves to destroy cloth toys.

What a fun gift idea! We have a rescue beagle named Geronimo. He's a beagle so any food items are quickly eaten, and we have some special treats picked out for him for Christmas.
