Memorial Day

WoundedWarriorProject Today we remember all those who gave up their lives serving their country. We give honor to those that are Veterans and we remember all those that are currently serving and away from their families. 10% of all orders placed today will be donated to The Wounded Warrior Project.

This is an amazing group that helps injured servicepeople transition into civilian life with their life-changing injuries.

The Soldier
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Five Minute Friday: Cute Band-Aid

Hello and happy Friday!  I hope you have a nice long weekend (my US friends) for Memorial Day and that you’ll take a moment to step away rfom the BBQ and picnics and remember the fallen.

These past few weeks have brought so many natural disasters and surgeries and illnesses for people I know.  So this is a quick card to send to a dear friend who is recovering from some surgery.  I used the new Lawn Fawn On The Mend set.  Seriously how cute is that little Band-Aid?  Very.  That’s how cute!.  It’s hard to see but I stamped the white in Versamark ink with the stamp and then again in Palette Nude, colored with Copics, added some Glossy Accents and popped him up on some dimensional dots.  Then I stamped the greeting in Memento Black and added some red ruffled ribbon as a final touch.

That’s it!  Thanks for stopping in.  Have a great weekend!

DT Challenge: Color Blocking

This month’s DT Challenge is using the Color Blocking technique. If you’re not familiar with it you can see an article about it here.

I made a card using various Be Mine papers and one of the greeting stickers from the embellishment sheet. Then I added some Zva bling that I cut apart. Then I added some black crepe ribbon tied with some bright pink silk.

If you’d like to play along please tag your projects with ihp0511 and leave a comment here with your link so I can see it. In the meantime, be sure to hop along and see what the rest of the DT has for you!

Five Minute Friday: You’re The best

Hello! This week was Teacher Appreciation week and what better set to use than Mint Motif’s School Basics? I made a matchbook style card and stamped the line in Palette Charcoal and then the words in Noir and Moulin Rouge. I added some Pyrus Woolies and a button with some natural twine and that’s it! Perfect for your favorite teacher or school worker.

There were some new additions to the store this week so be sure to check the new section on the store. And, LUCKY YOU…tomorrow is National Scrapbooking Day so I have a 10% off coupon for you when you spend $40 or more, valid starting today through Sunday. Use code NSD2011DT. Plus, all single digistamps are only $1. And, all orders $100 or more will get a free extra gift from me as a thank you. It might be a paper sampler or a stamp or something else! It’ll be a surprise!

So, happy shopping! Have a great, scrappy weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
