DT Day: Lori

Hi, IHP fans!  It's Lori here with today's DT post.  Since lots of us struggle with masculine cards, I thought I'd share one today using the fun Mister Man set from Technique Tuesday.

To get a masculine feel, I kept things simple with clean lines and added interest with a mix of fun papers, some shiny accents, and a tiny bit of texture.   I went with a trendy gray and yellow color scheme that I love for both masculine and gender-neutral designs.  Once I'd decided on my color scheme, I picked coordinating patterns from the Carta Bella Boy Oh Boy paper pad for the long panel that stretches down most of the length of my cardfront and for the paper pieced necktie.   The "you are the man" sentiment was stamped in gray pigment ink on a solid yellow panel that I layered over the patterned paper strip.  After adding the dotted necktie next to the sentiment, I added a little shine with a pair of silver brads along the side of the panel.  A little white twill tab tucked underneath the left edge of the panel adds just a bit of texture to the design.  The finished panel was adhered to a gray card base.

DT Day: Sheri

Hello IHP fans!  It's Sheri here.  Can you believe Christmas is only a week away??  Have you finished up your shopping yet?   One of my favorite things to give are gift certificates so the recipient can pick something out they have been wanting but won't splurge on for themselves.

So I thought that I would create a fun way to present a small gift or gift card/certificate using Lawn Fawn's Goodie Bag Die. These are super quick to put together.

 Supplies:
Paper: Red CS, SnowDay 6x6 Pad (Lawn Fawn); Stamps: Winter Penguin (Lawn Fawn); Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Coloring Medium: Copic Markers (C1, C5, C6, C7, R17, R20, R27, R29, YR15, YR18); Tools: Winter Penguin Die (Lawn Fawn), Goodie Bag Die (Lawn Fawn), Stitched Banner Set (Lawn Fawn), Stitched Snowflakes (Lawn Fawn), Classic Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Other: Ribbon (May Arts), Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter (Tim Holtz/Ranger), 2 Way Glue Pen (Zig), White Paint Pen (Sharpie) Scor-Tape, ATG Tape, Foam Tape

Thanks so much for stopping By!  Have a wonderful day!

DT Day: Lindsay

To begin, I took the open dot pattern, and stamped it three times down the front of my white card base.  I then colored in the dots with my markers (which really didn't take that long).
I took a piece of black cardstock, rubbed it well with an embossing buddy, and white heat embossed my graphic sentiment onto it.  I trimmed it, and adhered it to the card using foam adhesive. I hope you are inspired to finish up those cards, and get them out!  There is nothing better than a handmade card for the holidays.  Thanks so much for joining me here today.

DT Day: Vera

Hi everyone. Vera here today. How's your December looking so far? Well, for me, December means Christmas and also homesickness. Never more than in Christmas that I miss being with my family. Also, my niece birthday is in December. So, two events where I am totally missing my family.

With that in mind, I made this miss you card to send to  my niece.

This bunny is one of my favorite bunny stamp ever. Because it's so adorable & sweet. It's from Lawn Fawn Hello Baby set. For the hills, I added some green using the mini blending tool & Avery Elle Lemon Grass ink pad.

I am keeping it CAS and sweet. This card totally reflect how much I am missing my li'l niece on her birthday (of course, she gets a birthday card as well). Hah.... My  brother is used to me sending her a bunch of cards. Sometime for no reason at all. Being far away, I need to make sure she knows that I think of her all the time.

That's all for me today and thank you so much for swinging by here. Don't forget to check out {i heart} papers for all your stamping need. Cheers!

DT Day: Tracy

Good morning IHP fans! It's Tracy here with a fun and simple pastel holiday card you can make. I used Chickaniddy's Jolly Good paper pad and layered a couple pastel prints. My sentiment comes from Lawn Fawn's Winter Penguin set stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

To finish my card off I used a couple of Lawn Fawn's wood veneer snowflakes that I dragged through Palette New Canvas ink first. And I added a tiny bow of pink twine from Hemptique. Have a wonderful holiday season and don't forget to check out i {heart} papers for all of your crafty needs!

Guest DT: Mariana

Happy December!  Today we welcome a new guest designer to the team, Mariana Grigsby.

Here's what she has to say about herself and her first project for us!

I live in Northern Illinois with my husband and our two sons. We also have a cat and a dog that we consider part of our little family. I love creating with my hands since as long as I can remember. That was one of the reasons that years later I went to college to become a Graphic Designer, but in 2005 I set aside that title to become a stay-home mom. Since then, I discovered that crafting was a great way to keep my creativity active.  I specially love creating cards and scrapbook pages. I also like to challenge myself by trying out different styles of cards, and learning new techniques. I have achieved many accomplishments as a card maker, several of my cards have been published in magazines, I have been on different design teams, etc. Overall, I can say that crafting is a therapy for me, exercises my mind, makes me happy. You can find me at http://marianagrigsby.wordpress.com

To create my card I used a stamp set called Love You a Latte by Lawn Fawn. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black onto a white tag, and then, I colored the images with markers. I also created a frame onto the card base with a patterned paper included in Sweater Weather 6x6 Paper Pad also by Lawn Fawn.  I applied some glitter details over the marshmallows with a white Wink of Stella Brush Glitter Marker. Next, I put a layer of Glossy Accents on the image and sentiment.  Finally, I adhered the tag with foam tape, I stitched along the edge with my sewing machine, and added a simple red ribbon knot as an embellishment.

We're excited to have you joining the team for the next 2 months!
