Blingalicious DT Challenge!

dtchallengeblingnfframe

Today is DT Challenge day and today’s product focus is BLING! Yay! I love my bling, whether it is Zva crystals, Stickles, Spica pens, Shimmerz or anything else that sparkles.

If you’re a regular reader then you know I am headed to Niagara Falls for my birthday in just a couple of weeks! I’ve been counting down the days and am SO excited. So I thought it would be just perfect to make a frame for one of the amazing pictures I will no doubt be taking while I am there.

nfframeclose I started with a $1 unfinished wooden frame and covered it with this shimmery Umbrella Tops paper from the Spring All Over collection. Next I use some of the wide white 1 1/2” 100% silk ribbon to wrap the sides. This ribbon is so soft and…uhh…silky. :)

Then came the bling! I used the lower case alphabet to spell out “niagara falls.” I did some handiwork on one of the “d”s to create the extra “a” that I needed to spell it out. Then I used these flourishes for the corners. My finishing touch was the new white sweet blossoms bouquets (also from Zva) for my roses. I cut the stems off them and used glue dots to adhere them.

So what do you think?

Now…be sure to check out everyone else’s projects!

I am in love…

puppylove

…with these new June Bug Woolies.  They’re really felt but I’m guessing since Sassafras Lass came up with Felties, this was what Basic Grey resorted to.  Who cares?  I mean, look at how cute this little guy is!!  Seriously.  I think this may be one of my all time favorite cards and I made it in under 5 minutes.  As soon as I saw him I knew immediately that I’d pair him up with some paper from SEI Park Buddies.  He just looks like a nice little pup that I’d see at a dog park.  I chose Puppy Play and used both the front and the back.  I had seen the SC234 Sketch Challenge all week and knew it would be perfect for him to steal the show!  How adorable is he!?!!

And despite the red base on this card (I HATE red cards) I love this card.  I even matted my papers on white, which I never do!

I stamped the greeting and then applied some little yellow jewels to match his little collar.  And then a little piece of paw print twill (adhered with i {stick} papers!) and voila!

Have a wonderful weekend!  Only 20 days until to Niagara Falls!  Yay!!

Hi! Owl

hiowl

I love this little Whoo Loves You set.  That round owl cracks me up.  I coupled it with the butterfly from Sending Happy Thoughts and Mushrooms.  The owl, mushrooms and stump are stamped in Palette Burnt Umber and the butterflies are stamped in Palette Charcoal.  I like to use charcoal when I want a pretty dark line but not the depth of the Noir.  I colored the butterflies with the new Blossom Spica pen and made their trails from some Zva crystals that I cut apart.  The owl is colored with the new Sand Spica pen.  Then I sponged the sky with Palette Seascape and the ground with Palette Viridian Leaf

That’s it!  Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great day!

The continuing saga of Ron, the mailman and some news!

mailbag

Well…you folks really love a good sale eh?  Thank you so much!  Orders have been coming in all weekend and that means poor Ron the mailman has lots of packages to carry around the neighborhood as he delivers mail.  :)

If you ordered late Saturday or Sunday then your package is in this bag waiting to be picked up.  Can you tell how tall it is?  I mean, look at the door knob.  Poor Ron.

In other news, there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes here, some of which I can’t quite share.  What I can share is that Tracy has recently been appointed my Design Team Coordinator and starting in July, Deb (one of SCS’ newest Dirty Dozen Girls!!!) will be my Challenge Coordinator.  They’re going to help me keep this ship sailing smoothly, especially with all the upcoming news!  So hop on over and wish them good things!  (And soon, a little birdy tells me that they will have some blog candy so be sure to check their blogs often for your chance to win!)

And, remember, the sale is still going onNestabilities on sale!  Pierceabilities on sale!  Borderabilities on sale!  FlowerSoft on sale!  JustRite Stamps and accessories on sale! Lots of other stamps on sale!  Palette inks on sale for $5.50 a pad!

And, it’ll be on until all the things I’m trying to liquidate go away!  I need room for all the new goodies coming out in July!  So, if you haven’t ordered or if you want to order again (some of you already have!!) go check it out NOW!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a crafty thing for you.   Thanks for stopping by!

Return of the Five Minute Friday Feltie

fmfbabydear

Happy Friday!  I gave you a break last week not using one of my super cute Felties.  But it is back this week!  Sadly though, this will be the last installment of Felties.  I’ve used up the entire package!!!

I used my SU! punch to make the border here and mounted the Feltie on a little Nesties tag.  I was pleased to discover that the Palette Cote d’Azure was a perfect match for this little guy and my SU! Tempting Turquoise (one of my least used colors ever!).  I stamped the Baby dear greeting from Chelsea Greetings in it and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great Father’s Day weekend!

Father’s Day Tie

fathersdaytie

So this isn’t a spectacular card but my dad will love it.  My dad is a slob.  He knows it, can’t fix it and actually seems quite happy not worrying about cleaning things or not dropping food on himself.  It’s been a source of poking fun at him my whole life.  My mom gets pretty angry about it most of the time (since she usually is the one stuck cleaning up after him!) but I’ve always found it pretty amusing.  Anyway, I took some of my leftover Heidi Grace paper (the same one from the mailbox a few weeks ago) and hand cut a tie from it.  Then I mooshed some Palette Burnt Umber ink splotches on it.  I can’t tell you how many times my dad would go to Friendly’s and drip ice cream on his tie or shirt.  Heh.  So…this is kinda perfect for him.  Finally I used, yes, you guessed it – CHELSEA GREETINGS – to stamp the With Love in Palette Burnt Umber.

He won’t care too much about the card anyway – he’ll be too excited about the Howdy Doody DVDs I got him.  40 episodes!!!  He’s going to have a blast reliving his childhood!

Thanks for popping in to say hi.  See you again on Friday!

NSR: Pond picture

pondjune

No stamping post today.  I just wanted to post an updated picture of my pond with all the fish and the froggy in it.  You can click on it for a larger view.

Everything is in bloom and they’re all quite hungry now that the weather is warm.

That’s it!  Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!  Thanks for popping in!

Five Minute Friday Apple Thanks

fmfthankyouapple

Happy Friday!!  Today I have a very clean and simple card for you.  This apple stamp is from the Designer Fruit (Sparkle Clear) set.  I love these Sparkle Clear sets…they are a great price and come with some bling!  I stamped it in Palette Noir and then colored it with my Red and Melon Spica pens

I used my Nesties to make the little frame and then stamped the greeting from Chelsea Greetings also in Palette Noir.  I finished it off with some red/white dot ribbon.  Easy peasy!

I hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Yes, more birthday wishes

birthdaywishes

Why are there so many birthdays??  I’m getting a head start on my July card making.  I normally have one day (around the 25th of each month) that I write out my cards for the following month.  That way they’re all ready to go in the mail on time.  But in order for me to be ready for July I need to start now.

This card started by looking at CPS14 but didn’t quite end up working for that.  What I don’t think you can see in the picture is that designer paper is clear embossed and glittered.  Love that!  I’m not crazy about the little gem that I stuck on the ribbon bow…I think it makes it look like a belt but once it was stuck, it was staying!

I am still loving the Shawl lace paper from SEI and the crocheted flowers are starting to grow on me.  The tag is from my trusty Nesties Tag Trio and of course, stamped with Palette Burnt Umber with the birthday wishes stamp from Chelsea Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Five Minute Friday Feltie Hi!

fmffeltiehi

Maybe I should just start calling Fridays “Feltie Fridays” instead of “Five Minute Friday.”  I think this is three weeks in a row, isn’t it?  I can’t help it!  Can you blame me?  These little critters are just SO cute.

I love the brightness of this card and it was so simple to throw together.  Two little Felties and their branch and some Spring All Over Glittery Alphabet stickers, some super cute paper and voila!  I tell you, the most time consuming part of this card was hunting down the exclamation point on the alphabet sheet!

So that’s it.  What else?  Umm…I’m expecting some new goodies this coming week from Basic Grey and Zva Creative.  YUMMO!  So be sure to check back next week.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Ta Ta For Now Balloon

tataballoon

OK, I am so in love with this Verve set.  I know I don’t sell it but I’m still in love with it and thanks to DT member Carolyn, I now have it.  Isn’t she a sweetie?  She knew I totally wanted and knew I am on a self imposed spending freeze, saving up money for my big 35th birthday trip to Niagara Falls in 42 days (but who is counting, right?)  Thanks!!!

So anyway, this little beauty showed up day before yesterday (Ron, the mailman delivered it before he hauled all my packages away) and I had to play with it.  It reminds me of The Wizard of Oz balloon.  And, a little side note, I *really* want to take a hot air balloon ride but at $500 bucks a person, it will have to wait for a little longer.

I paper pieced this guy with the same Heidi Grace paper (the backside this time) that I used on Ron’s mailbox.  (I think I’m making Ron famous now.  I doubt he knows it.)  I put little gems in the centers of a few of the flowers and some larger gems on the Nesties Tag Trio.  The ribbon is some of the new 100% blue silk.  It is LUCIOUS and so easy to tie!!!

The basket on the balloon is colored with the new Baby Blue Spica pen and the clouds are all colored with my trusty Clear Spica.  I sponged the ground with Viridian Leaf Palette and the clouds and greeting are stamped in Ballet Blue Palette.  The greeting is of course from my favorite, All Occasions Messages

Now…I just need to find someone who is going away to send this to!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Showing the mailman some love

packages

So let me tell you how much I LOVE the Carrier Pickup service that the USPS offers.  I use it almost daily and I usually kind of feel bad as my little old mailman schleps my bags of packages on the rest of his walking route.  Why feel bad?  Well, I can literally see the post office down the street from my front steps but I HATE going to post office.  I LOVE my postal software and print all of my own postage.

Normally I have one or two grocery bags full of shipments from store orders.  But this past Friday I had almost 80 eBay auctions close (I was selling all of my Stampin’ Up! sets) and so Saturday I had 3 grocery bags full of packages.  But, for Monday I have 2 giant BB&B bags.  They are huge.  These two big bags are about 25 pounds of packages and include 3 big flat rate boxes.

mailboxblue

So in an attempt to win back some favor from Ron the Mailman (or at least prevent him from “going postal” on me!!!) I made this little Target mailbox.   I covered it in this Heidi Grace paper and was so pleased to find that the reversible blue/brown ribbon was a really good match for the paper.  I finished it off by stamping the greeting from Chelsea Greetings in Palette Prussian Blue, which was also a great match for the dark blue in the paper.  I’ve got to either find some time to bake some cookies on Monday night or get to the store for some candy to put in here.

Check back later for a SOA wrap-up.  I’ll have our Challenge winner from the event as well as my drawing for my own little prize for my blog reader contributors.

Thanks for stopping by!!
