Card Patterns Sketch #3

Today, i {heart} papers is sponsoring the third sketch over at the new Card Patterns blog. We share a design team member, Tracy, so I wanted to show my support!

Here is the sketch. Come play along with us and you'll have a chance to win some yummy goodies from the store!

Here's what you can win:
- one roll of i {stick} papers
- one Memorybox Sugardrop pad
- one yard of Olive Leafy Vine ribbon
- one yard of pink velvet ric rac
- one yard of ivory faux suede ribbon
- one yard of pink glimmer ribbon

How do you play along you ask? It's easy!

Go make a card using this sketch and then head over to Card Patterns and enter to win!

Here is my take on it. I made a 4-1/4" square card, with a layer of SU! Elegant Eggplant. I used some of the delicious new SEI Garden Tour paper from the Bridgeport collection. It is a beautiful varnished paper that screams out to be used.

I made the little rectangle from my scalloped rectangle Nesties but since the original rectangle was too tall, I cut it out and then adjusted it, lining up the scallops and recut it to get the size I needed. I love that trick!

I stamped the Hello Friend from All Occasions Messages in Palette French Lilac and then sponged the edges to make it pop. It is mounted on some dimensional dots.

The dark purple flower is one of our newest embellishments - it is a knitted pearl burst and is made from sparkly dark purple yarn. It was the perfect touch for this sketch!

And, because it brought a little shimmer into the card, I decided to finish things off with some new White Glimmer ribbon over top a strip of vellum. I didn't want to cover up any more of that gorgeous paper, so I opted for vellum. Luckily, since the ribbon wrapped around it, it hides my adhesive.

(Just an FYI, the magenta glimmer is a perfect match for the pink in this paper and the Claret Palette ink. I wanted to use it on this card but it just didn't go with the purple flower and I guess I wanted to use that more! I'll have another card with the magenta ribbon next week for you!)

So...do you like it? I can't wait to see what you all come up with! I'll be checking the Card Patterns blog to see who is playing but please leave me a comment here if you play so I'm sure not to miss yours!

Have a great weekend! I'll be taking it easy. I've been battling a double ear infection this week so I need some rest!

I'll be back on Monday though, so be sure to pop in!

Love your take on the sketch! The prize package looks great. Thanks for stopping by my blog. To answer your question, I live near Hackettstown but go to school at Rutgers so I live in Piscataway most of the year. I love that NJ still has a few LSS but with them being so spread out, online stores tend to be a must to get the latest and greatest.
